16 times X is equal to 5 times Y. If 8 is subtracted from Y, it is 10 more than 2 times X . What is the sum of X and Y?

Given,16X = 5Y
16X - 5Y = 0 ------------------- (1)
And,
Y - 8 = 2X + 10
Y - 2X = 18 ---------------------- (2)
Solving equations (1) and (2)
16X - 5Y + 8Y - 16X = 144
3Y= 144
Y = 48
Putting the value of Y in equation (2)
Y - 2X = 18
48 - 2X = 18
2X = 30
X = 15
Now,
X + Y = 15 + 48 = 63.
