A and B are two container in which 6 liters and 3 liters of same type of acid of different concentration are kept. Same number of litre are emptied from each containers and is poured into other container and thus concentration of A and B becomes same. The quantity of acid emptied from each containers is?

A. 2

B. 1

C. 3

D. 3/4

Solution(By Examveda Team)

Let x is emptied
⇒(3-x)/x = x/(6-x)
⇒18 - 6x -3x +x2 = x2
⇒18-9x = 0

    let container 1 have pure acid 6L
    container 2 have pure water 3L
    we take out x from both
    concentration=acid content/ total amt of solution
    so, 6-x / (6-x+x)= x/(3-x+x)
    6-x/6=x/3
    18-3x=6x
    9x=18
    x=2

    Let x is emptied.
    3-x/x = x/6-x
    18 - 6x -3x +x^2 = x^2
    18-9x = 0
    x = 2
