Bhubaneswar to host Men’s Hockey World League Final 2017 and Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) and Government of Odisha on 27 March 2017 announced that the Men’s Hockey World League Final 2017 and Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018 will be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium will host these two global FIH hockey events.

The Kalinga Stadium has previously successfully hosted the 2014 Men’s Hero Hockey Champions Trophy.

The FIH also confirmed that the State of Odisha will be the Title Sponsor of both the events. Therefore, the official event titles will be the ‘Odisha Men’s Hockey World League Final Bhubaneswar 2017’ and the ‘Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018’.

The Odisha Men’s Hockey World League Final Bhubaneswar 2017 will take place from 1 to 10 December 2017.

The Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 will take place in late November 2018/ early December in 2018. The tournament will see 15 teams join hosts India at the event. They will qualify from the Hockey World League Semi-Finals and Continental Championships, taking place in the year 2017.

About Kalinga Stadium

The Kalinga Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

It was built in the year 2010.

The stadium has facilities for athletics, soccer, field hockey, basketball, tennis, table tennis and swimming.

It also includes an 8-lane synthetic athletics track, a sports hostel, gymnasium and the India's first newly built olympic standard pink and blue hockey turf.
