Dessert vs Desert
Dessert is the sweet course of a meal; whereas Desert is continuous sand.
Dessert:
Dessert is the sweet course of a meal, usually eaten at the end of the meal. A few examples of desserts are cakes, pastries, pudding, ice-cream etc.
"The new restaurant in the city has a very exciting Desserts menu".
"Let’s keep ice-cream for dessert in today’s party".
Desert
The word desert can be an adjective, noun, or verb. It has the following meanings:
a) Arid land with little or no vegetation.
"The Cactus has characteristics which help it grow in desert lands". [ Here desert has been used as an adjective.]
"Thar Desert is in the state of Rajasthan in India". [ Here desert has been used as a noun.]
b) To abandon or to defect or to leave in the lurch.
"The prisoners made a plan to desert the prison". [Here desert has been used as a verb.]
c) To leave behind.
"On Friday evening, Rahul hurriedly deserted the office". [ Here desert has been used as a verb]
There are two famous tricks to make proper use of these two words:
1. When you are stressed, you feel like having desserts.
Remember: DESSERTS is the exact opposite of STRESSED.
2. After you have one dessert, you will always want a second piece too.
