How many combinations are possible if 3 one rupee coin, 4 fifty paise coin and 2 twenty five paise coin are available. It is compulsory to select any one of the coin?
Solution(By Examveda Team)
For every coin you can either select it or not
so (3+1)*(4+1)*(2+1)-1=59
1 is subtracted because we have considered the case where no coin is selected..

Dear Team ExamVeda why you have taken '*'(and) there.. instead of '+'(or). Could you Please explain more elaborately..
See, The selection of each coin is independent to each other. It means we can selected rupee coin, 50 paise coin as well 25 paise coin. That's why there is use of AND or Multiplication rule.
