It depends on the animal species. Since human color vision is trichromatic we will have 3 primary colors. For other animals that might vary.

Mantis shrimp is dodecachromats. So they have 12 primary colors.(They must have a very colorful life).

For additive combination (CRT, light) : RGB red green blue
For subtractive combinations (dyes): CMY cyan magenta yellow
For subtractive combinations (painting): RYB red yellow blue
