There are two departments for development of Animal Husbandry in Jammu and Kashmir, one is for Jammu and the other is for Kashmir. The Jammu Animal Husbandry Department was established in 1982 by the State Government. The main objectives of the departments are to improve the livestock of the states and socio-economic upliftment of the poor farmers.
