Anjali goes to office at a speed of 12 km/h and returns to her home at a speed of 6 km/h. If she takes 8 hours in all, what is the distance between her office and her home?

Let total distance between home to office is 'D'.
And also let the time taken to reach office from home is 'X'.
Therefore time take to return home from office is (8-X).
We know that speed = distance/time,
Therefore,
12 = D/X i.e. D = 12X -----(i).
and
6 = D/(8-X) i.e. D = 48-6X ---- (ii).
Thereefore,
12X = 48-6X
X = 48/18.

Distance D = 12*48/18 = 32KM
