At which of the following places Ashoka did not go for pilgrimage?

A. Ayodhya - Haridwar

B. Gaya - Kushinagar

C. Lumbini - Kapilvastu

D. Sarnath - Shravasti

Answer: Option A

Solution (By Examveda Team)

Ashoka, the Mauryan emperor, was a devout follower of Buddhism after the Kalinga war and undertook several pilgrimages to places associated with the life of Gautam Buddha.

He visited key Buddhist sites such as Lumbini (birthplace of Buddha), Bodh Gaya (enlightenment), Sarnath (first sermon), and Kushinagar (death of Buddha). These are confirmed through his inscriptions and historical records.

Ayodhya and Haridwar, while religiously significant in Hinduism, do not have any direct association with the life of Buddha and there is no record or evidence of Ashoka visiting these places as part of his Buddhist pilgrimages.

Therefore, Ayodhya - Haridwar is the correct answer as the places Ashoka did not go for pilgrimage.
