• Former world long jump champion Anju Bobby George was appointed as the Chairperson of Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) by Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.

• India-born Swati Dandekar has been appointed as the United States director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

• Harshavardhan Neotia has been elected as the President of industry body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

• Nitish Kumar was sworn in Bihar Chief Minister for a fifth time at a grand event attended mostly by non-BJP leaders. The two sons of RJD chief Lalu Prasad â Tejaswi and Tej Pratap âand 26 others were also sworn in.

• Senior diplomat Vijay Keshav Gokhale, currently the country’s Ambassador to Germany, has been appointed as the Ambassador to China to replace Ashok Kantha, whose term will end in early January.

• Dr Raghuram Rajan, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on 9 November 2015 was elected as the Vice-Chairman on the Board of Directors of BIS. With this, he became the first Indian to be elected to this position in the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

• Renowned economist Subir Gokaran has been appointed as an Executive Director on the board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

• A team of Indian scientist led by Sameer Panda from Odisha on 6 November 2015 won the NASA award for an innovative technology named Burst Prevention & Puncture Curative (BPPC) technology.

• Former Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India Subir Vithal Gokarn was appointed as an Executive Director on the board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

• Former private secretaries to the President and ex-Home Minister and senior BJP leader L.K. Advani, Pradeep Gupta and U.K.S. Death:

• The noted labour economist Dr. T.S. Papola passed away in Delhi. He was 74.

• Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal (89), passed away at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon following multi-organ dysfunction and sepsis.

• Saeed Jaffrey’s death was announced by his niece Shaheen Agarwal on Facebook on. He passed away in a hospital in London early.

• Pithukuli Murugadas, the devotional singer aged 95, died.

• A noted writer of children’s books Kamala Laxman passed away on 14 November 2015 in Pune. She was 90. She was widow of legendary cartoonist R K Laxman who was best known for his creation The Common Man for his daily cartoon strip You Said It in the daily The Times of India.

• The former Janata Dal MLA, Gurusharan Chabbra, died after a month-long hunger strike to demand a stronger and independent Lokayukta in Rajasthan and a State-wide ban on liquor.

• Kentucky voters elected just the second Republican, businessman Matt Bevin, in four decades to hold the Governor’s office, in a race that hinged largely on President Barack Obama’s signature health care reform legislation.

• Veteran CPI(M) leader and former Speaker of the West Bengal Assembly Hasim Abdul Halin passed away in Kolkata. He was 80. Halin was the Speaker of the State Assembly for a record time of 29 years from 1982 to 2011 during the Left Front rule in the state.

• Guenther Schabowski, the former senior East German Communist official who accidentally announced the opening of the Berlin Wall, has died aged 86.

• Hero MotoCorp patriarch and doyen of the Indian two-wheeler industry, Brijmohan Lall Munjal, died on 1st November evening after a brief illness. He was 92.

• Former guerilla commander from Nepal's UCPN (Maoist) Nanda Kishor Pun was elected as the country's new Vice-President
