D. Two distinct photochemical reactions

Answer: Option D

Solution (By Examveda Team)

Discovery of Emerson enhancement effect has shown the existence of Two distinct photochemical reactions.
This effect is the increase in the rate of photosynthesis after chloroplasts are exposed to light of wavelength 680 nm and more than 680 nm.
Robert Emerson described the eponymous effect in 1957.
When the green plants were too different wavelengths of light, he noticed that at wavelengths of greater than 680 nm the efficiency of photosynthesis decreased abruptly even though this is a region of the spectrum where chlorophyll still absorbs light.
