Extra oral digestion is found in Antlion grub, Blowfly larvae and Carnivorous hemipterans.
Extra-oral digestion means that spiders can break down the nutrients of captured prey outside their own body. Accordingly, they can both digest large amounts of tissues and separate indigestible parts, such as the exoskeleton of the prey, before they ingest it.
Extraoral digestion allows for breakdown of dietary components before they reach the midgut for final enzymatic degradation and absorption.
