Female Bombyx pupa is identified by its 'X' mark on the ventral side of 8^th segment.
Males are smaller in size whereas females are plumpier. Males have a small brown, glossy spot just below the 8^th abdominal segment.
In females, there is a division of the segment which is represented by a dark line or ‘X’ marking between 8^th and 9^th abdominal segments.
