Five men take as much to do a job as 10 women. If 6 men take 10 days to complete a job working 4 hr per day, how much time would 10 women take to do a job twice as much as the former while working 6 hr a day?

A. 12 days

B. 14 days

C. 16 days

D. 18 days

Solution (By Examveda Team)

6 men can do the job in 40 hrs.
Therefore, 12 women can do the same job in 40 hrs
So, 10 women can do the same job in 40*12/10 hrs i.e. 48 hrs
Hence, 10 women can do twice the job in 48*2 = 96 hrs = 16 days working 6 hrs a day.

    Given,
    10 women = 5 men.
    Let 10 women takes X days to complete the same work as 6 men do in 10 days.
    Using work equivalence method, we can find
    6 men* 10 *4 = 10 women * 6 *X
    6 * 10 * 4 = 5 men * 6 *X
    30X = 240
    X = 8 days.
    As 10 women or 5 men can complete same work as 6 men complete in 10 days in 8 days.
    So, they can complete twice work as former in,
    = 8 *2 = 16 days.
