The forests of Punjab have diverse vegetation types, varying from the pine forests to thorn forests of deserts, as per variations of altitude and climate. According to Champion and Seth classification, the forests of Punjab are categorised into five divisions. They are Northern Dry Deciduous Mixed Forests, Dry Deciduous Scrub Forests, Khair, Sissoo Forests in Foothills, Shiwalik Chir Pine Forests and Dry Deciduous Bamboo Forests.
