Goitre is an enlargement of Thyroid gland.
A goitre is a lump or swelling at the front of the neck caused by a swollen thyroid. The thyroid is a small gland in your neck that makes hormones.
A goitre can present as a palpable or visible enlargement of the thyroid gland at the base of the neck.
The most common cause for goitre is iodine deficiency, commonly seen in countries that scarcely use iodized salt. Selenium deficiency is also considered a contributing factor.
