If India adopts two time zones based on 75°E meridian for western India and 90°E meridian for eastern India, Assam of eastern India will be benefitted most. Places located on the eastern side of India like Assam witness sunrise as early as 4.30 am due to single time zone. Sun rises very early in these eastern parts of India. Normally, there is a lag of about two hours in the sunrise of eastern part & the western part of India. In summer times, the sun rises 90 minutes earlier in the eastern part of India than the western part of India. Due to earlier sun rise & earlier sunset, these eastern states loose productivity because of the decrease in the office hours.
