If perimeter of a rectangle increases by 30%, what will be the effect on its area?
Solution (By Examveda Team)
The Formula of Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 * (A +B)
And Formula for Area = AB
When the perimeter of a rectangle increase by 30%, it means there must be 30% increament in its length and 30% increment in its breadth.
As 30% increment happen in length and breadth of rectangle, then there will be (X +Y - (XY/100) ) where X and Y is increment .
So, total increment in area = (30+30 + (30*30)/100) = 69%
We can also calculate it through graphic change method:
100 == 30% up in length => 130 == 30% up in breadth ==> 169.
100 become 169 means increamnet of 69%.
area will be increased by 69%.
Perimeter of rectangle = 2*(A+B)
Area = AB
Total increment in area = (30+30+(30*30)/100) = 69%
Area will be increased by 69%
