A. 1/4

B. 2/3

C. 5/12

D. 4/11

Answer: Option C

Solution (By Examveda Team)

Let numerator of the fraction is X and denominator is Y, then fraction will be X/Y.

Numerator increased 240%, so new numerator would be,

[X + (240 of X)/100] = 34/10X ----------------------------- (1)

New denominator,

[Y + (50Y)/100 ] = 5Y/10 --------------------------------- (2)

Now, accordibng to question,

(34/10)X / (5/10)Y = 17/6
34*6X = 5*17Y

X/Y = (5*17)/(34*6)
X/Y = 5/12
So, Original fraction was 5/12.
