In plants water moves from

A. Less nagative to more nagative gradient

B. More negative to less negative gradient

C. Similar gradient

D. Zero gradient

Answer: Option A

Solution(By Examveda Team)

In plants, water moves from a less negative to a more negative gradient.
Plants release water vapour into the atmosphere, which creates a negative pressure in the xylem, the layer of small vessels that brings water up from the root. If a plant has enough water, it opens its stoma, the pores under its leaves, to pull in carbon dioxide, which it photosynthesizes into sugar to fuel growth.
The root hair cells have carrier molecules on their cell membranes. These pick up the mineral ions and move them across the membrane into the cell against the concentration gradient.
