Karva Chauth Festival is a popular festival of Punjab. It is celebrated in the month of Kartik (October - November) on the fourth lunar day. On this day married women observe a fast and pray for the long life of their husbands. Wearing new clothes, specially red coloured dress, women sing songs and do the puja. In Punjab, sargi (predawn meal) which includes Fenia and other gifts are given to the fasting woman by her mother-in-law. Women fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands.
