Indian-American appointed as President, CEO of Bank of the West

Indian-American Nandita Bakshi (57) has been appointed the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bank of the West, a subsidiary unit of French banking giant BNP Paribas.

She will succeed Michael Shepherd who has been appointed as chairman of the BNP Paribas USA, a new holding company for all BNP Paribas subsidiaries in the United States.

About Nandita Bakshi

She has rich experience in banking sector and had previously held several leadership roles at different top Banks in US. She also had held several executive positions at Washington Mutual in Seattle (Wash), FleetBoston (now Bank of America), First Data Corp, Home Savings of America and Banc One Corp.

Nandita Bakshi had earned a bachelor’s degree in History at the University of Calcutta and masters in International Relations and Affairs at Jadavpur University.

Currently she also serves on the board of the Consumer Bankers Association. She is recipient of a New England News ‘Woman of the Year’ award in 2002.
