Kerala wilt (coconut root wilt) in coconut is transmitted by Tingid bug.
Root (wilt) disease (RWD) caused by phytoplasma is one of the most devasting diseases of coconut palms. The major symptoms of the disease in leaves are wilting and drooping and flaccidity, ribbing, paling/yellowing, and necrosis of leaflets.
Phytoplasmal diseases are usually transmitted by insects, and this wilt disease is transmitted by tinged bugs. These bugs are usually host-specific and can be very destructive to plants. Most feed on the undersides of leaves by piercing the epidermis and sucking the sap.
