Functions, Powers and Duties of Gram Panchayat (Punjab) are :
1. Preparation of annual plans for the development of the Panchayat area.
2. Preparation of annual budget.
3. Mobilising reliefs in natural calamities including relief to the poor.
4. Removal or encroachments on public properties.
5. Organising voluntary labour and contribution for community works.
6. Maintenance of essential statistics of village.
7. Rendering assistance and implementation of development schemes pertaining to the village through its Gram Sabha.
8. Promotion of unity and harmony among all the sections of society in the village.
