Cauliflower is infected by Diamond Back Moth, It is one of the serious pests of cauliflower in India and worldwide. The greyish brown moth has typical white patches, which form a diamond-like appearance on the wings while in rest. It feeds on leaves and makes bite holes, causing excessive defoliation, mostly on the growing part i.e primordial.
Chilli thrips are caused by Scirtothrips dorsalis. The infected leaves develop crinkles and curl upwards, Elongated petiole, Buds become brittle and dropdown. Early stage, infestation leads to stunted growth and flower production and fruit sets are arrested.
Okra shoot and fruit borer are considered to be the major insect pest of the crop, which interferes with its economic production in almost all okra-growing countries. The larva bores into tender terminal shoots in the vegetative stage and flower buds, flowers and young fruits in the fruit formation stage.
Potato is infected by cutworms. The caterpillars cause crop damage. They feed at night on young shoots or underground tubers. After tuber formation, they bore and nibble into the tubers affecting both tuber yield and market value.
