Maximum fruit set in brinjal is seen in long style.
Brinjal is known to produce four types of flowers viz., long, medium, short, and pseudo-short-styled flowers with polymorphic ovaries. The number of flowers with medium and short styles is lower (10 - 15% and 22 - 30%, respectively). The highest fruit set was observed in the long-styled flowers (82.9 and 86.5%) followed by medium-styled flowers (78.2 and 77.2%).
