Nanhi Chhaan was launched on 27 August, 2008 and aims to protect girl child and deteriorating weather condition and spreading awareness against female foeticide and cutting of trees. This scheme is an initiative of Ranbaxy group which is later adopted by Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal, MP from Bathinda.
