Uttarakhand 9^th November 2000, which was later renamed Uttarakhand, was created out of the mountainous districts of northwest Uttar Pradesh. The formation of Uttarakhand fulfilled the long-voiced demands of the tribal of Kumaon and Garhwal. Uttarakhand was formed out of the 11 hill districts and 2 plains districts.
