Pollination in mango takes place by a housefly.
Mango (Mangifera indica) flowers are pollinated by various insects such as wasps, ants, flies, butterflies, beetles and bees as well as by wind. Major pollinating insects of mango were found to be from order Diptera, that is, Meliopona sp, Syrphus sp. House fly.
Flies and stingless bees are thought to be the main pollinators of mangoes as they visit the flowers in large numbers and disperse between different trees.
