The unresolved demands highlighted by Anandpur Sahib Resolution, 1973 were accepted by the government after the agitation of Akali Dal. As a result, on 24 July 1985, Rajiv Longowal Accord was signed by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Akali Dal President Sant Harcharan Singh Longowal. This accord was also known as Memorandum of Settlement on Punjab or Punjab Accord.
