Mumbai stamped its authority in the domestic cricket circuit yet again with an exceptional performance in two sessions that turned the Ranji Trophy final against Saurashtra on its head and handed it a deserving 41st title, with a victory by an innings and 21 runs on the third day itself.
At 23 for two, Saurashtra went in to tea with its hopes firmly pinned on Pujara to at least take the game into the penultimate day.
But once Thakur got Pujara, leaving him in no man’s land with a short ball that the batsman could only lob to Akhil Herwadkar at gully, Mumbai was smelling blood.
