As a result of the Battle of Buxar, Robert Clive obtained the Diwani powers of Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha from Shah Alam II in 1765. The Treaty of Allahabad, signed in 1765 by Shah Alam II and Robert Clive of the East India Company, put an end to the Battle of Buxar.
