The taxi fare in a city is partly fixed and partly varies according to the number of kilometers travelled. In a journey of 270 kms, a person is charged Rs. 900, while for another journey of 310 km, he is charged Rs. 1020. Then find the fare for a journey of 470 kms.

A. Rs. 1600

B. Rs. 1410

C. Rs. 1500

D. Rs. 1590

E. None of these

Answer: Option C

Solution (By Examveda Team)

Let fixed cost is x and variable is y
x + 270y = 900 ------- (i)
x + 310y = 1020 ----- (II)
Solving two equation
x = 90 and y = 3
for 470 Km fare = 90 + 470x3 = Rs 1500
