The inflorescence of bananas is Spadix.
It is also known as “banana blossom”, “banana flower” or “banana heart”, is a dark purple-red heart-shaped structure or flower bud that is located at the end of the stalk or peduncle. The spadix is a floral spike with a fleshy or succulent axis usually enclosed in a spathe.
The banana plant is monoecious, it contains both female and male flowers inside the heart-shaped blossom.
