The Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 2013 amends Section 28 of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989 and includes that there should be reservation for women on one-third of the total number of offices of the Chairman of Block Development Councils in each district. It is also mentioned that as per the prescribed criterion, these reserved offices may be allotted by rotation to different Block Development Councils in a district.
