Mid-Day Meal Scheme has been started with effect from 1 April, 2006. In the beginning, under this scheme the students of 1^st to 5^th class in the primary schools were provided mid-day meal for 240 days. In 2008 - 09, the scope of the scheme was extended to the students of upper primary classes.
