Christian missionaries founded a school in 1880. It was founded by revered J. Hinton Knowles in the premises of missionary hospital in Srinagar. It was the first western and modern boys school. In 1891, the school was named as Tyndale Biscoe School after its British Missionary Principal Canon Cecil Tyndale Biscoe. The school was affiliated with Church Mission Society.
