WBSEB was formed on 1st May, 1955 and dissolved on 31st March 2007. It has now been reconstructed and split into two companies namely West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (WBSETCL) and West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL).
