In 1807 - 1809, Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu, who ruled from Amaravati as his capital, built the temple at Mangalagiri. The temple has a tall gopuram (tower) on the eastern side - 153 feet tall and 49 feet wide with 11 stories.
