Landslides, deforestation, shifting cultivation and excess siltation in mountain rivers increases soil erosion of mountain and forest soil. Annual floods, waterlogging, prolonged wet and dry spells of rainfall, deforestation, faulty ways of cultivation are the main causes of soil erosion in delta plains. Poor water retention capacity of soil, prolonged dry periods resulting in droughts, deforestation, over grazing, leaching and seasonsal floods are main causes of soil erosion in the Western Plateau region. Waterlogging, high salinity, very poor water retention capacity, tidal waves, coastal run off, excess siltation of rivers are main causes of soil erosion in coastal regions.
