M. H. (Maleic Hydrazide) is used to check the sprouting of onion under storage.
It is generally applied as a foliar spray to crops in the field as herbicide and plant growth regulators.
It is applied to onions in the field at a rate of 2.2 kg/ha when the bulbs are mature. Five to seven green leaves are essential for adequate absorption of the compound. The crop is harvested after 2 - 4 weeks and the tops are removed.
