Which of the following items is not used in Local Area Networks (LANs)

A. Computers

B. Modem

C. Printer

D. Cable

Answer: Option B

Solution (By Examveda Team)

computers, printers, and cables. These components are essential for creating and maintaining the network. Computers are the devices that connect to the network, printers may be shared resources within the network, and cables are used to physically connect these devices.

A modem, however, is primarily used to connect a network to an external service provider, such as an Internet Service Provider (ISP). It modulates and demodulates signals for internet connectivity. While modems are commonly used in wide area networks (WANs) or for internet access, they are not a standard component of a LAN, which is designed for local communication and resource sharing within a limited area.

    In English
Interface Card, Ethernet Cable and Routers are used in setting up a LAN. The router can be plugged directly into the modem via an Ethernet cable, and all other computers are eventually connected in some fashion to the route. In terms of LAN, a computer cannot be said to be an item which constitutes this network.

In LAN all these items can be used... 1st Computer is obviously the main part. 2nd cables are used to interconect them. 3rd modem can b used to acces internet facilities n a common printer can also b used for printing purposes... Now coming to the answer ,since the main objective of LAN is to conect each other for sharing data n resources , therfore modem has less priority than a printer... Hence Modem

+সন্দীপ দাস : My friend , basically LAN is WAN , read below (and i think the answer is C. Printer)
One LAN can be connected to other LANs over any distance via telephone lines and radio waves.
A system of LANs connected in this way is called a wide-area network (WAN). The difference between a LAN and WAN is that the wide-area network spans a relatively large geographical area.
