Mountain Meadow soil is mainly found in Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Gurez, Baramulla, Lolab and Sonamarg. The texture of this soil varies from sandy loam to clay loam alongwith fine to coarse granular structure. This soil is alkaline in nature and have high organic carbon content. It has high water holding capacity (50%- 60%) as compared to other soils of the Union Territory.
