Who among the following Mughal Emperor became the first pensioner of the East India Company?

A. Ahmed Shah

B. Akbar II

C. Bahadur Shah

D. Muhammed Shah

Answer: Option C

Solution(By Examveda Team)

Among the given options, the Mughal Emperor who became the first pensioner of the East India Company was Bahadur Shah II, also known as Bahadur Shah Zafar. He was the last Mughal emperor and his reign is often referred to as the Revolt of 1857 or the Indian Mutiny. After the suppression of the revolt, Bahadur Shah II was captured and exiled. He was tried and found guilty of involvement in the uprising.

The British East India Company decided to provide a pension to Bahadur Shah II and allowed him to live in exile in Rangoon, Burma (now Yangon, Myanmar). His pension allowed him to meet his basic needs in exile.

Option A: Ahmed Shah is not a well-known Mughal emperor.
Option B: Akbar II, also known as Akbar Shah II, was a Mughal emperor, but he is not the correct answer to this question.
Option D: Muhammed Shah, also known as Muhammad Shah Rangeela, was a Mughal emperor who ruled during the 18th century, but he is not the correct answer either.

Therefore, the correct option is Option C: Bahadur Shah, who became the first pensioner of the East India Company after his exile following the events of the Revolt of 1857.
