Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia occupied the area to the North of Amritsar between the Ravi and Beas rivers. He also added the Jalandhar region and Kangra hill areas to his estate, had a capital in Shri Hargobindpur. He became the leader of the Sikh misl that was known as Ramgarhia and therefore was honoured with the title of Ramgarhia.
