Who has introduced 'Operation New Hope' and 'Ice Stupa' technique in Ladakh?

Sonam Wangchuk is an engineer, innovator and education reformist. He was born in 1966 in Uleytokpo in the Leh district of Ladakh. His father was a politician living in Srinagar. He did his B.Tech in Mechanical Enginerring from National Institute of Technology, Srinagar. Later, he went to France for higher studies. In 1988, he started Student's Educational and Cultural Movement Of Ladakh (SECMOL). SECMOL launched 'Operation New Hope' in collaboration with government to bring reforms in the government school system in the Ladakh region.
He designed the solar-powered school building which keep the students warm. This building won the International Terra Award for Best Building in July 2016. He invented the ‘Ice Stupa’ technique that creates artificial glaciers, in the form of conical shaped ice heap. The glaciers provide water during the summer season.
