1st forget the gate utilization factor and then solve this problem with the basic formula which is (no. of gate ÷ (average gate occupancy time x service time). so here service time is not provided so assumed it as 1. if you put the value according to the formula then you get 8air craft per hour. Now in question they mentioned about gate utilization factor so multiply the gate utilization factor which is 0.5 with 8 you will get 4aircraft/hour.

Number of gate is 4. convert 30min into hour which is 0.5hour
formula used for gate capacity is (Number of gate÷occupancy time) = 4÷0.5= 8 aircraft/hour
Multiply the gate utilization factor with value = 8*0.5= 4aircraft/hour

Gate occupancy time = 30 mins

    ∵ Gate capacity for 1 gate = 2 Aircrafts/hr

    ∵ For 4 gates capacity = 2*4 = 8 Aircrafts/hr

Now gate utilization factor = 0.5

    Final gate capacity = 8*0.5

    = 4 Aircrafts/hr
