Our atmosphere is divided into five layers. These are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere from lowest to top in series.
The troposphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere and thus it is nearest to our Earth. It extends upward to about 10 km (6.2 miles or about 33,000 feet) above sea level.
