Castor is an oil seed and is a perennial flowering plant.
It is believed to be originated from Tropical Africa, indigenous to the southeastern Mediterranean Basin, Eastern Africa and India.
The castor seeds contain 40 - 60% oil that is rich in triglycerides, mainly ricinolein.
