Punjab is the top state in the consumption of fertilizer in our country. Punjab alone consumes about 9% of the total fertilizers in India and it is 190.1 kg/ha per unit area basis on the gross cropped area.
Maize is the greatest consumer of fertilizer in the world i.e. 16.2%, followed by wheat at 15.3 and rice at 133.7%
